Important: Revised Procedures for Postponed Thesis Publication – Academic Year 2025

The Ministry of Education has implemented revised procedures for students seeking to postpone the publication of their theses. Effective Academic Year 2025, students must submit a formal application for delayed thesis publication prior to their degree examination. The Examination Committee will then review and approve the request, considering whether the thesis contains confidential information, patent matters, or other content prohibited from disclosure.

For matters involving confidential information or legal prohibitions, students must provide applicable regulations and concrete evidence. Regarding patent matters, students must submit the patent application number or provide relevant application details.

Applications for electronic and printed thesis postponements may be granted for a maximum of five years, with each subsequent application requiring confirmation from the original Examination Committee and approval by the student’s former department/faculty committee.

Please note: All applications must be accompanied by the completed “National Taiwan University Thesis Delayed Publication Review Form.”
